Alcohol & Drug Prevention Technical Assistance

The Community Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) Prevention Technical Assistance Program provides free technical assistance (TA), training and consulting services to support and enhance AOD prevention efforts throughout California. The project is funded by the California Department of Alcohol and Drug Programs and administered by EMT.

Project goals are to:
  • Promote state-of-the-art AOD prevention strategies and programs throughout the state;
  • Strengthen local community AOD prevention efforts;
  • Increase communication between local prevention programs; and
  • Improve local programs' prevention skills and technology.

There are THREE different types of services provided by this project:
Who is eligible?

Any California group currently involved or planning to become involved in AOD prevention is eligible to request CUSTOMIZED TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE. Preference will be given to those programs that have no or limited resources for TA services, although other organizations will be served as resources allow.

Participation in AOD PREVENTION EXTENSION WORKSHOPS is open to anyone who is interested. Space is limited; however, and pre-registration is required.

Prevention Tactics, a quarterly publication of the AOD Prevention Technical Assistance project, is available to anyone upon request while supplies last, or you can click here to choose an issue of Prevention Tactics for viewing or downloading. Each issue highlights a specific strategy or topic in AOD prevention. Topics covered in prior Prevention Tactics include:
  • Early Childhood Brain Development
  • The Youth Development Approach
  • Risk and Resilience
  • The 40 Developmental Assets
  • Media Advocacy
  • Family-Centered Prevention
  • School Connectedness
