-Norm Brown, President, Kellogg Foundation

The Mentoring Technical Assistance Project provides free technical assistance (TA) and training to community and school-based organizations throughout California to build and strengthen their mentoring programs and to enable children and youth to benefit from the best mentoring practices available. Project goals are to:

  • Promote state-of-the-art mentoring strategies and programs throughout the state using the framework of the Recommended Best Practices for Mentor Programs;
  • Strengthen local mentoring efforts;
  • Increase communication between local mentoring programs; and
  • Improve local programs' mentoring skills and technology.
There are five different types of service provided by this project:
Who is eligible?

Any California group currently involved or planning to become involved in youth (18 years of age and under) mentoring is eligible to request customized technical assistance. Preference will be given to those programs that have no or limited resources for TA services, although other organizations will be served as resources allow. Participation in the Mentoring Plus Series Workshops and Regional Symposiums is open to anyone who is interested. Space is limited; however, and pre-registration is required.

The CARS contact person for the Mentoring Technical Assistance project is Erika Urbani.
